The influence of Native American tradition can be found in hot stone massage therapy. Hot stones were traditionally used to create the heat in a Sweat Lodge, but also they were used to rub on sore muscles along with steeped herbs to warm, soothe and relax the muscles. We use hand picked stones naturally smoothed by the ocean’s currents along the coast of Maine.
Heated, flat stones are strategically placed along the spine to warm and soother the back muscles. Then other heated stones are used to begin the treatment and incorporated into a deeply penetrating and soothing massage using traditional Native American essential oils such as Clary Sage and Birch. To enhance your experience, small pebbles are placed between the toes, and round stones are put in each hand. A very Earth-based therapy!
